How are we protecting you during this Pandemic ?
In these uncertain times, you can be certain your safety is our #1 priority.
Right now there is little information known about how COVID -19 will impact those with Parkinson's Disease. What they are finding is that when someone does have Parkinson's Disease and is also diagnosed with COVID-19, their Parkinson's symptoms becomes worse. Having Parkinson's however, does not put those individuals necessarily at higher risk for catching COVID-19. We also know that there are certain risk factors for individuals with Parkinson's Disease, that can make recovery from COVID- 19 more challenging and slower compared to those that do not have Parkinson's Disease.
For all these reason, we will be making your safety out highest priority. We will be wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (face mask, face shield/goggles, and gloves), every time we have a therapy session. You will also be asked to wear a mask during our sessions. We will be screening for COVID -19 symptoms before each therapy session. We keep our caseload low, minimizing exposure. Also if deemed safe, telehealth options are also available. We bring the therapy to you so you can avoid going out to a public clinic setting.

During this pandemic we may feel uncertain in crowded public settings, and it is evident that many individuals with Parkinson's Disease are declining at home. Individuals with Parkinson's are not participating in their normal routines which included community exercise programs and going to their physical/occupational therapy appointments. This pandemic has forced us to get more creative with how we deliver care. This is why even when you are done with our LSVT BIG program, you can then transition to our Rock Steady Boxing Rockville Zoom classes and never stop moving. Participate in our zoom support group and never feel alone. It is important that you do not stop moving because of COVID-19. The tools that we teach can be done at home and you can still slow the progression of Parkinson's Disease with the support that you need.
